Speaking the Truth in Love
- Toward a New Apologetics for the Third Millennium Archbishop Charles
J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap.
"Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am
with you always, to the close of the age." Simple, direct,
no-nonsense. It's the greatest mission statement ever written.
|
|
In the Church there is a diversity of ministry but a oneness of
mission . . . [T]he laity, made sharers in the priestly, prophetic and
royal office of Christ [through their baptism] . . . are called by God
to exercise their apostolate in the world like a leaven, with the
ardor of the spirit of Christ"

We Are Called to Win the World for Christ
- If we're not sharing our love of Jesus Christ with others, it's
diminishing in our own hearts. If we don't live that love and share
it, we lose it. And we can't be happy without it. That's what St. Paul
meant when he wrote, "Woe to me if I do not preach the
Gospel."

New Evangelization
- The Call of Christ to
his followers is to, "Go and make disciples of all
nations..." This divine mandate from our Lord Jesus has been
re-emphasized in the Catholic Church since the Vatican II Councils, in
the 1960's. Pope John Paul II, has constantly called all Christians to
join in what he calls a, new evangelization and mission to the
nations.' A call that he states, "no believer or institution
of the Church is exempt from, to proclaim Christ to all people."
(See Mission of the Redeemer, 3).
